-Tried developing some icons- still a work in process
-Do you reckon its a good idea to add the illustrated kanji into the taboos section?
-I drew one for namida as an example, we could maybe use them as icons. So it would link to the brochures maybe as well?
-The symbols will be on the table under each tableware. So the person lifts the bowl and sees below. With this it raises the issue that the food will fall out when they lift it?
-still figuring out what images should go with each of the characters
-not sure about colours at the moment- rough drafts
-example of what the person will see when they lift the bowl. -Thinking that the symbols will be in certain shapes.- not sure about sizes yet so will probably still need to measure some stuff.
-another idea is that the kanji go on as a type of pattern for the bowl. but since the bowls will already be coloured it might be a bit distracting.
-grey characters that link to the character that will be underneath when the student lifts the bowl.
-We could use the other illustrations for the etiquette brochure for the bowls and cups etc. because the photos have a paper stock feeling at the moment?
-do you reckon the kanji would look better grey?
-if it does I can try convert the rest to grey?
-haven't tried the bowl stuff or the table placement stuff.
-Maybe we can try do the table placement on Wednesday as well as the writing stuff?
----------------
-Don't forget to look at wood for the table, maybe look at some paper stock for brochure as well?
-We also need test print on paper stock for the brochure. I think you mentioned maybe a cream paper stock?

-We still need to decide on a logo to develop or use
-I made some more concepts, feel free to add more ideas or develop these- not what font to use? should we use futura or that triangle font?
-make bamboo brown

visuals first showing:
Text and number trials on bowls:
tried clipping in the texture you made. the title definitely looks less harsh! :D
is this what you mean by replacing the stock images?
it does look more visually appealing, and kinda matches our topic more. what do you think?
the mood board regarding to packaging. forgot to post this one up a while back.
writing for the table set up brochure:
Autumn:
Dobin mushi is a traditional seafood broth, steamed and served in a tea pot. The broth usually consist of matsutake mushrooms and slices of chicken, shrimp and herbs. This dish is perfect for the cold weather during Autumn.
Winter:
Shabu Shabu is Japanese hot pot consisting of thin cuts of meat and assorted vegetables cooked in a hot broth at the table. It’s a staple dish served during the winter season. The great thing is, you can eat as you cook! Because the broth is boiling hot, ingredients are cooked in seconds.
Spring:
Takenoko Gohan, or Bamboo Rice is a Japanese springtime treat made with fresh bamboo shoots picked from the mountains. This dish is cooked in a rice cooker allowing the flavours from the bamboo to really fuse with the steamed rice.
Summer:
In Japan, during the unbearable hot and humid summer, cold Japanese noodle, Zaru Soba is the perfect dish to cool down! Zaru Soba is a chilled noodle dish made from buckwheat flour and served with soy sauce based dipping sauce called tsuyu.
i quite like these ones. but i drew the 'o' free handed so it might be better using a Wacom tablet.

-A good reading about budhhism, shinto and etiquette. might want to reference it for our essay.
-oh yeah looking at the logo, it kinda makes sense. They use circles in Japanese for correct things, right? So its kinda like the logo is saying correct chopsticks.
Don't forget to put the logo at the back of the brochures!
-test print on the different paper stock
----------------
-printed colours and calligraphy
-some stuff needs re-positioning
-cup needs to be printed short side
-choose a different blue and orange
-do other characters and bowls
-printed some more next week to test
packaging paper test prototype
(probably need to score where the flaps fold. also need to cut the handles more outwards.
Need to make sure the paper stock isn't too flimsy or the chopstick handle will tear the paper.
Need to do some resize some text and make all the typefaces consistent.
