App

The “Scan” function uses image recognition to allow visitors to scan two-dimensional icons to trigger texts  to pop up on their phone screens  Pulsing circles appear on different part of the image – when tapped, screen pops up to reveal more information about this part of the work. The immediate delivery of this additional interpretive content enables visitors to delve more deeply into the app to learn and gain further tips on the etiquette. This creates a more innovative learning experience, while also providing a light weight guide for students that may be interested in travelling to Japan in the future, but cannot take the display with them and wants to refer back to what they've learnt.

Wireframing. What do you think? Might try to use the "o" from the logo for pages with the content. Some screens have text or photo placeholders. What do you think? Any suggestions?

Another alternative
Putting the kanji in the circle.
might add a swipe button somewhere so the users know they can swipe to view the other etiquette instead of scanning it every time.

-I like the circle compositions
-I kinda like the line rule (do you reckon I should add this to table mat if you are using it in app)?
-It might over complicate the table mat. But you can try and see?
I think it should be fine if it's just on the app perhaps?

-Try the imagery in a darker shade of the colours- thats what I used for the tableware (just wondering about consistency with the origami tableware if you suddenly use white for the imagery).
here are the colours i used:
Orange(dark colour): #3d2e16
Blue (dark colour): #21313c
Green (dark colour): #1e2714
Pink (dark colour): #441c19

-Also keep the type consistent (I think we are using adobe caslon pro for titles for tableware and table)- Probably should keep them the same or find a font similar if it looks weird on app.- Also it would be futura for body text.
-Yup, will change it!

-Also remember to use updated imagery and make sure you are using the right ones for each taboo
-I like the app having a white background though.
-Also try the Japanese characters overlapping from the outside
-We still need to do an example animation of the app so upload the trials to drive when you have finished the app design.

-Could try more layouts of the overlays I reckon.
-Anyways looks good so far, just could push it further with more iterations!

-not really sure about the black icons. it looks quite harsh? i might try and use the seasonal colours but use a darker HEX.

-Will try and add some english titles. What do you think about the layout and the sizes of the icons when printed?

-yep I think the icon size is good. Would not make them smaller.

App Development

changed the icons and typeface. What do you think about the darker seasonal colours?
Some of them appear more "black" than the others. But I find it less harsh than #00000

-yep I like these ones better and they seem more cohesive with other other stuff we did.
-yeah I just guessitmated the darker colours, let me know if you want to change them slightly.

other iterations

which layout do you like out of these 2?
-I kinda like this one

Added tips that is related to the taboo

All the etiquette.
(Need to edit the titles on top and have an option to view all)
Anything else I am missing or you want me to add in the app?
